Mid Foot Injury
I injured my foot while crashing a jump windsurfing 5 weeks ago. My foot was twisted in the strap somehow upon landing the jump. I was in immediate pain and was taken to hospital for x rays. There was quite some indecision about whether a meta tarsel was fractured but finally they decided it was a soft tissue injury. The foot swelled up loads and stayed quite swollen for about 2 weeks. Even now the swelling on the top of the foot hasn't gone down fully.
I went to the doctor 2 weeks after the injury and he looked at my x-rays and confirmed it wasn't fractured. At the moment I can stand on tip toes with both feet but it is too painful to stand with just the injured one, and I cannot lift my weight from flat footed to the ball of my foot. I have read about Lisfranc's injury and the seriousness of not treating an injury like this properly. If it is normal not to be able to stand on my tip toes one footed after 5 weeks please say so and I will stop worrying!
Is this normal? I am a serious windsurfer and am going away training in 6 weeks. Should I seek extra help or not?
Thanks
