Default Pain at base of second toe

I run in Vibram Five Fingers Bikila LS, and recently have had pain at the base of the second toe on my left foot. It starts hurting around 3.5 miles. The pain shoots through that part of my foot as my foot strikes the ground. I assume my form is off, but I can't tell. Striking differently doesn't seem to change anything. I have run through it before. When I did, I ran up a hill, and as my left foot hit the ground at the top of the hill intense pain shot through my foot. After that, it was fine. However that has not happened again. Is anyone else having this problem in Five Fingers? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

How long have you been wearing the five fingers? I presume this pain does not coincide with when you started wearing them? Did you have a gentle run in with them? (i.e. not straight into wearing them all the time).

The pain you are experiencing could possibly be Morton's neuroma. Have a look at this page:
