Default Pain from Bruised heel persisting after 4 months?

    Hello,

At the beginning of Sept 2011, i managed to severely bruise both my heels after falling around 5ft onto concrete with thin shoes on. Due to this being the start of university, i was unable to sufficiently rest my feet, so i forced myself to push through the pain (with the aid of lots of Anti-inflams) for a few weeks. After around 3 weeks, the pain was still pretty crippling, so i went to A+E fearing it was more than just a bruise. Thankfully the X Rays confirmed there was no break, and was recommended to rest as much as possible. (also given insoles to provide support my arches.)

Jump forward 3 months - whilst the severity of the pain has definitely reduced, i still get pain around the heel, when standing on a hard floor, and also get "tendony" pain around the arch, and around the side of both heels. Annoyingly, the pain is still preventing me from going for long walks, and running at all.

When i return to university, i will see a podiatrist but this is going to be in a few weeks time.

Can anyone confirm after this period of time weather the condition likely to still be a simple case of bruising, or is it likely to have progressed into another long term condition? Can anyone comment on how long I should expect to wait before the symptoms are relived?

    Thanks

    Hi
Well it's good that there is no fracture.
Bone bruising can take a long time to heal so it may just be this, but going to a podiatrist is a good idea.
In the meantime, concentrate on stretching your calf muscles. These can play a big part in heel and foot pain.
