Hi, I jusf found this forum, and I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice. 6 days ago I competed in an off road, trail race. 9.6 miles. It was my first time racing on trails, but I've been running road races for a few years. I typically run 3 or 4 times a week, each run around 10-12 miles. After the race I had a lot of soreness in my calves and glutes, that went away in about 1 day. Figured it was just from running on the uneven ground and using muscles that weren't used to it. The problem is that I have this kind of sharp pain on my right foot. It is on the ourside of my foot right under the ankle. Hurts when I first get up from sitting for a while, and will start to go away after walking on it for a few minutes. At first I thought it was a stone bruise or sometihing, but the thing is when I press with my finger it only hurts when I apply direct pressure on the side of my foot, nothing when I press from the bottom. I'm wondering if it is actually due to an ankle roll where I didn't actually go down, but put some stress on the ligaments that didn't show up until after the race was over. There were several places were the footing was wobbly, and I thought I was going down but managed to catch myself. One in particuar I rember my right ankle rolling, and expecting on the next stride to feel the pain, but didn't. Ran on it Monday just a really slow easy recovery run. Not much pain during the run, but got worse after. So I've been staying off it for the last 4 days. Got an important race coming up so I don't want to aggrivate any injury at this point. I'm trying to figure out if I need to just rest, could it be somthing worse that needs to be looked at further.
