Thread: Peroneal Brevis Tendon Tear

  1. #1

    Default Peroneal Brevis Tendon Tear

An MRI showed a PBT Tear, 2" lengthwise

    Is surgery an absolute must?

The OS intends to suture it.

    Cast at least 4 weeks
    Camboot at least 4 weeks

How much time b4 any of you were actually able to walk?

Can you walk with the cast, or do you need crutches?

    Hi
Surgery is never a definate, so if yiou are unsure that this is the route you want to take, talk to your surgeon about it or get a second opinion.
You can't walk in a cast so it would be crutches for 4 weeks. You can walk in a camboot though.

I think the answer to that question depends on the extent of the damage and also the type of lifestyle and activities you want to continue with. Therefore it is quite difficult to answer and you shoud speak to someone who knows your personal situation.
