Default Pins and needles then complete Numbness

I play football for a Scottish Junior side and during games after about 10 mins i start to feel pins and needles in my left foot it gradually turns into complete numbness of the foot and only goes away when i stop playing. Its not that my boots, socks or shinnes are that to tight i have played with them loose, tight. I have played with shinnies with and without ankle guards and still the same thing happens? The physio of the club doesn't know what it is either??

    Any help would be great!

In order for your foot to go numb there is some interuption with one of the nerves which run through the lower part of your leg, into the foot.

The most common reason for this is muscle tightness. I also suffer from a similar (although not quite so severe) problem when I am running.

Try stretching the muscles of the lower leg three times a day and getting the physio to massage your calfs and shins twice weekly to see if this has an effect.

It is probably worth also getting your foot posture and gait cycle checked, to ensure you are wearing the correct footwear and if you need orthotics.

    Good luck!
