    Default Possible Ankle Sprain?

    Hello
I'm just trying to figure out what I may have done (i.e what muscles, tendons, or ligaments I have hurt specifically).
I play soccer and am a goalkeeper. In training I was diving and a player shot the ball on the top of my foot as I was in the air, so the entire foot was pushed backwards (i.e. ankle fully extended). There may have been a slight eversion as well since the ball was travelling up from the ground to my foot.
There is a fair amount of pain, and although I can bear weight, I cannot walk normally. That is, I don't seem to be able to bend the ankle in it's normal fashion as I walk. There doesn't seem to be much swelling nor bruising, which surprises me as I have sprained my ankle before and had both those symptoms. The pain seems to be concentrated toward the achilles and on the outside of the foot.
Please help me figure out what I have done! I've tried to find information on sprains, but all I can find are high ankle sprains, inversion, and eversion sprains.
    Thanks!

    Hi
It may be an injury to the peroneal tendon if it is on the outside of the ankle/foot. This runs behind the lateral ankle bone and under the foot. It is responsible for plantar flexion (pulling the foot up - opposite to what happened to your foot) and inversion so may have been overstretched.
