    Default top of foot pain

    Hi,

I had a sharp pain at the top of my foot a week ago whilst on the xtrainer in the gym and felt like something was stuck in my foot - like a tendon or something - i rested for 3 days. I'm not feeling the awkward feeling in my foot when walking now but there is localised pain at the top left edge of my foot - i'd say an inch away from my bony bit - when i touch it it's very painful.

    What could this be?

It doesn't look bruised or puffy.

    Hi

The pain at the top of your foot could be a few things. The most likely (going on the information you have given me) is inflammation of one of the extensor tendons of the foot. Have a look at the page to see if the symptoms match yours (swellling is not always present):

Is the pain worse at any time of the day? Or after you have been still for a long period? Does it feel better or worse with activity?
