    Question Achilles Tendon problem ??

My boyfriend was playing soccer and got kicked in the Achilles Tendon area.

Since then, he has pain in his Achilles that is constant, yet there is no swelling present? The injury occurred 8 days ago and he is still limping when he walks.

If anyone could help it would be very much appreciated! I don't know if he should visit a professional, or simply rest and ice up. Thanks :-)

    Hi
He definately needs to rest it as much as possible and at this stage (if there is no swelling or bruising) he could alternate hot and cold (5 mins each for 20 mins). This will massively increase blood flow to the tendon which will help healing. This tendon has a pretty poor blood supply meaning healing is sometimes impared.
Stretch the calf muscles gently (provided this is not painful) to try to get full movement back in the ankle.
Getting some sports massage and ultrasound may well be helpful too.
    Good luck!

Supine Groin Progressive in the Tower will change his life! Go to www.egoscue.com and watch the video that talks about it (related to back pain). That e-cise alone will help him recover much faster. If it is swollen don't forget to ice a couple times a day also.
