Default ankle niggles (at start of a run)

    Hi,

in january 2010 suffered ankle pain during run with pain usually on inside of ankle. 2nd physio i saw prescribed following treatment:

''mobilisatrion to the subtalar joint which was very stiff.
Mobilisation to the joints of the left medial longitudinal arch including the talo/ navicular joint, the naviculo /med cuniform joint. this lead to neutral orientation of the hind foot in plantar flexion and full and neutral hind and mid foot dorsiflexion''

treatment on the whole has been fine. But i have been back to physio every 2/3 months as ankle problems relapse. Right now when i run, the ankle is very niggly at first but after 5 minutes OK and can run 5 km fine. i can also do 200 metre reps no problem once overcome initial ankle awkwardness. i do have poor dorsiflexion in affected ankle but not that bad. i also run barefooted and have done for years. I'm just concerned that i have to keep going back to physio. why does my ankle keep stiffening up and how come it is fine after a few minutes? Is this normal?

    any ideas?

Did the physio give you a rehabilitation program as well? if so, what did it include and have you continued to do the exercises?
