Default ankle sprain 3 months ago....please advise!!!

I Suffered an inversion injury to my ankle playing college basketball back in January during a game when I landed on someone's foot and twisted my ankle. My ankle swelled immediately and I had swelling on both sides and bruising. I took the next day off of practice to receive treatment on my ankle, but I played in my game the next day and from there on out.I received treatment everyda, did strengthening exercises, and worked on ballance.I've also aquired achilles tendonitis which is painful during practice and games in itself. Also, I previously sprained my ankle in the same manner and to the same extent eight months previously. It seems that after three months of treatment and rehab,my ankle has not gotten better and my ankle is constantly painful on the outside as well as the inside.I especially have pain on the inside of my ankle when trying to play basketball which seems odd because it was an inversion injury, which makes me wonder why the inside of my ankle would hurt too. Also,I'm having numbness over the front of my ankle which concerns me.I really need advice on what my next move should be.Should I go to the doctor for an MRI?Wait it out when it doesn't seem to be getting better?Any ideas on what might be wrong with my ankle?

    Hi

With all moderate to severe ankle sprains you should always visit a Doctor who will usually refer you for an x-ray to check for fractures. You may also get an MRI to check for damage to other structures such as muscles, tendons and nerves as these are frequent complications of ankle 'sprains'.

I would definately advise you to visit a Doctor and request either and MRI or X-ray. The pain on the inside of the ankle and numbness are not usual features of a simple ankle sprain.
