Ankle Woes

Hi, recently been having trouble with my ankle, apart from spraining it a few years ago which fully healed, not had any other injuries apart from that, but recently my ankle has started constantly clicking and aching, so much to the point that after a day im in incredible pain. Been to the doctors but they've just prescribed painkillers. (which arent really working) Anyone have any ideas what it could be?? would really appreciate any help

Would need a bit more information. Where do you feel the pain? Inside, outside, general aching? Is it worse after activity (walking etc) or does it feel worse in the mornings after rest? Are there any particular movements that make it hurt more?

The pain in inside my ankle, im assuming due to the clicking that it's at the end of the tibia + fibula bones and one of the bones in the ankle, but thats what im hoping to find out, It hurts when walking for a long while, running etc...is sore when when i sit down and rest after activity, hope that helps
