    Default Bowlegged shin splints

Good morning, im a 44 yo male, slim built & not too unfit, recently ive been suffering from shin splints, i went to the gp who suggested rest and to wear correctly fitting shoes, she checked my arches which she said were fine but high. Last night my GF was standing behind me and said i was very much over on the outsides of my feet. I used to play a lot of football and suffered awful cramp. Im off to florida in a cpl of weeks and will be doing the theme parks etc which i know will kill my shin splints. My question is, is there a Trainer on the market which will correct my gait, maybe counteract my bandy legs??? i know its a tricky one.. Im based in West London. Many Thanks James

    Hi
If you have very high arches you need shock absorbing insoles. This is a common cuase of shin splints.
There is nothing available (to my knowledge) that will 'correct' the problem of bandy legs! It is probably caused (at least in part) by having high arches, as this puts a lateral rotation force on the shin bone which tanslates up to the knees, making them appear turned out.
You should visit a podiatrist if possible to get a proper assessment done and they would be the best person to tell you where to go from here.
