Default Could calf pain = achilles?

I have had mid to upper calf pain for about 3 1/2 weeks now. It just started one morning when I got out of bed, and it's painful enough that I limp for awhile until I get going. Once I go on with my day, the pain goes COMPLETELY away the more I walk! I've even been to theme parks with my kids for a couple of days walking miles, and no pain whatsoever. But when I wake up the next morning, it starts all over again, without fail.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a small bump on the back of my ankle on the achilles tendon, about the size of 1/2 a grape. No pain on that bump at all, but again, my mid calf is tender and sore. This bump is about 4-5 inches above the bottom of my heel.

Any suggestions as to what this may be about? Thanks in advance!

I should also mention that if I sit or rest for awhile during the day, when I stand up it hurts until I walk it out. It's not just my mid-calf, it's my upper calf as well, all the way to the back of my knee.

    thanks

Because it is worst first thing in the morning, and after periods of rest, this suggests inflammation.
You should be applying ice regularly and resting it as much as possible (even if it doesn't hurt when you walk lots).
Gentle calf stretching is also adviseable if it is comfortable to do so.
Sports massage would no doubt help no end.

thanks, I will do that. Should I be concerned about the lump on the back of my ankle tendon?

Not really...nodules are very common on the achilles. Get it looked at if it grows or is tender to touch
