    Default Exercises for Shin Splints

I have been suffering from Shin Splints for the last year or so since I have been playing soccer twice a week. I presume it's shin splints but of course I am not 100%, the pain is at the lower part of my front shin. It happens when I run and gets progressively worse for 30-40mins and then after that the pain lessons somewhat and I can run fairly normally. Afterwards the exercise for two or three days it is painful when I walk although icing my shins down for an hour after the exercise means that this doesn't happen anymore.

It was more painful when I started playing but since then has been mitigated a fair bit but there is still pain every time I play. I did a wet foot test and couldn't see any under over over pronation although I have not had this professionally assessed. I bought Neone shock absorbing insoles for my soccer boots aswell as calf supports. I stretch before and after each time I run and I ice my shins down for an hour afterwards also. All of this has definately helped but I want to get rid of the problem completely.

I recently joined a gym so I'm wondering if there are some weight training exercises I can do to strenghten my shin muscles to help eleviate the problem completely?

    Hi
Everything you have done is really good and you should keep up with all of this.
Having some massage therapy and stretching several tims a day - even when not playing football should also help.
It may also be worth checking if you pronate with a podiatrist as sometimes it is hard to tell.
