Default Help on lower leg injury

Just wondering if anyone here would know what it is. I've seen a doctor/phsyio and they seam to think it's post midial stress sydrome, but I've had it for around 8 months and it's not f**king going away!!!

How I got it - Trained in the gym (gymnastics) for 4 hours or so and got hardcore shin splints on both legs, did it again a few days later, and could hardly walk. My left leg healed after a week, but my right leg on the inside of the shin, has been been on and off red/ hard and sometimes feels painful standing after a long time. That happened around 7-8 months ago, I couldn't see a doctor though because I had no insurance to cover it... so 5 months later I saw one in Australia...

I've tried orthotics ( just the sport kind..specialy made though- I can't afford the 700 dollar hard ones -.- would this help? usually im barefoot around the house though... bad?), icing it, I haven't done any activity for months now and I'm sick of it. stretching my calves and hamstrings...

does anyone know if it is post midial stress sydrome or something else? Any tips? I can't afford to go to the physio again and them telling me the same nuts..

    Hi

Your symptoms do sound like shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome, amongst other names!) and if both a Dr and physio think this then I don't think anyone here would be in a position to argue with that without seeing you for an assessment.

Walking around the house barefoot would only be a problem if you overpronate or oversupinate. As you have had insoles specially made then I'm guessing you do one or the other? In which case you should try to wear something on your feet all the time to support the arch and promote healing at the shin.

What other treatments have you tried, other than rest and stretching calf and hamstrings? Its worth trying some sports massage, maybe some shin taping or a compression support.
