Lightbulb Lower inside leg pain. Please help!

    Hi there,

I play rugby and have developed quite an odd injury over the past few weeks.

The pain is hard to track down as it is not always there, and I have to 'dig around' with my finger to pin-point it. It's sort of around the shin area, on the inside of the leg, perhaps on the inside of the tibia bone - so it seems to me anyway.

As I say, it's not there all the time. When something or someone brushes past it ever so slightly, and I mean ever so slightly, it feels like I've just been stabbed there. I have the urge to collapse in a heap when it happens as I can't stand on it. The pain remains for about 20-30 seconds then gradually disappears. When I try to brush against it nothing happens, and I say I have to poke around for it and I can eventually find it and it seems to be on the inside (or underside) on the tibia leg bone / shin area.

I played an entire game of rugby again at the weekend and wasn't bothered by it - until right at the end when an opposition player walked in front of me and his leg sort of brushed against mine, and I almost fell to the ground in pain.

It's such a strange injury I hope someone can help, as if nothing else it's just plain embarassing feeling this pain from something other than real impact...

Thank you so much in advance...I look forward to your diagnosis!

    Michael

    Hi michael
    This is a strange one!
Do you get any tingling or numbness in the leg or foot?
Have you tried any form of treatment on it?
I would start with lots of calf stretches and some deep tissue massage to see if this helps.

    Thanks for your reply Heidi.

I don't recall getting any tingling or numbness there to be honest, and I haven't tried anything with it yet. It started a couple of weeks ago and I just though it was an ordinary knock, and that it would pass in time, but it hasn't and it seems odd that it occurrs in the manner described.

I'll try some calf stretches, see if that helps.

I don't suppose anyone else can offer any suggestions?

    Hi, me again.

Obviously I know no-one replied, but I have since been to the docs about this as I'm still having the same pain. They've said it's soft tissue damage and they weren't worried about it. But It's been months and the pain is NO better at all.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
