    Post lower leg pain

Before today I took 5 days off running. On my second day off the inside, toward the back, of my lower leg started hurting. It has hurt ever since and today i ran on it and did a much harder workout than usual. As soon as i stopped running it began to hurt worse than before. I cannot stand on my toe with that leg or put barely any pressure on it unless my leg is completely locked out. Could you please help me with figuring out what is wrong?

    Hi,

    I need some more information.

When did it start hurting, what were you doing at the time?
    Where exactly does it hurt?
What kind of pain and any other sensations (sharp, aching, numbness, weakness etc)?
Why did you rest from running? Because of something else or the same problem?
Is it worse at a particular time of day or a particular activity?

Sorry for so many questions! But its important to get as much info as possible to really be able to help you!

    Have a look at:

to see if any of these injuries match your symptoms!

The weird part is that it just started hurting out of no where because i hadent even ran the day it started hurting. I dont know how to explain exactly where it hurts. If there is a front, back, inside, and outside of your calf mine hurts on the inside and it goes halfway up my calf. I feel a lot of weakness in it and i fell sharp pains if i try to stand on only that leg or stand on my tip toes on that leg. I rested from running because i only run because i am on the track team at my school and i couldnt make practice for those 5 days. It hurts the worst right after i run and when i wake up. It seems to loosen up during the day but it still hurts. I did read everything on this website and nothing matches what i am feeling.

    Ok, thanks.

The fact that it hurts in the morning and loosens up over the day suggests inflammation. So the first step is to ice it regularly (10-15 minutes at a time) and possibly look into getting some anti-inflammatories.

Is the pain behind the medial malleolus (large bony lump on inside of ankle!) If so I would consider inflammation of the tendon of tibialis posterior. This can be due to faulty biomechanics (the way you run), especially problems at the feet.

Have a look at this page about overpronation, and the linked one to supination:

If you think this might be you, go to a specialist who can check this is the case and then sort you out with some orthotics (insoles)
