Question Lower leg pain from twisting an ankle?

When doing some hiking with friends, I caught my left ankle and wretched/sprained it twice. It hurt immediately after incurring the injury, but within 10 or so minutes I was able to run on it again. It didn't hurt that night or the next morning until I tried going down stairs. Through some trial and error, I've found that I can run perfectly fine on it, but I cannot go up and down stairs and I cannot bear all my weight on that leg. The pain isn't actually in my ankle; it's along the outer side of my leg shooting up about hallway up the calf.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat this? Or even on what I did to myself? I've been treating with Motrin and an ace wrap. Only reason I ask is because I have a three half marathons coming up in the near future and I want to make sure I can finish all of them.

    Thanks!

    Hi
From where the pain is and how you did it, I would guess peroneal injury: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/ankle/peroneal_tendinitis.php
You are doing the right things but should also be resting from running, even if this doesn't seem to aggravate it.
If you are intent on running the half marathons then you should make yourself an appointment to see a sports injury professional to get it assessed and treated appropriately
