Default Pain on the outside of shin

Hey everyone, I am new in these forums and English isn't my native language, but i hope you will understand me. I have been running only for my pleasure for about a year. I did not have any injuries during that period. But this week I felt pain on the outside of my shin (I think some bone causes that pain, I don't know). The pain is located on the outside of my shin, in the middle (maybe slightlyu closer to my knee). As I have read earlier, I thought that it was shin splints, but now I understand, that shin splints usually occur on the inside part of shin (maybe I am wrong). I have stopped my running, trying to do R.I.C.E. technique. I think I am a little bit better now, but if it continues to hurt I will surely go to sess a doctor. So what can you advise me? Can it be fracture (knock on wood) of some sort? Appreciate your help

EDIT: pain is felt in the right leg, if that helps

    Hi
I doubt it is a stress fracture as ther area you mention it would be the fibula bone and this is not a weight bearing bone. More likely a compartment syndrome type onjury, or possibly peroneal injury, depending on the exact location.
Definitely seek medical help if it continues after a rest period.
