    Question Peroneal problems plz help

I play football(soccer) for two teams as a goalkeeper which play Saturday and Sunday. i was playing football one sunday and planted my foot to kick the ball and something went in my leg. Weeks later of after being unable to play without pain i went to a sports physiotherapist and he told me i had a tear in my peroneal muscle lower half of my leg towards the ankle. All got fixed and before i could play a game it snowed constantly so didn't have any games for about 6 weeks which i thought would be good give my leg a bit more chance to heal. however after about two weeks back in football i think it's gone again it is really sore and tender after training and matches but i cant surely tear after playing for two weeks i mean it was fully healed do you guys think it could be something else or could the muscle just be really tight and need stretching i would go back to the physio but it's quite expensive. i was thinking of going to the doctors see what they make of it
any help would be greatly appreciated it's quite frustrating now thanks

    Hi
It could be either as you mentioned.
After an injury a muscle is prone to tightening up so it could just be that the muscle is really tight.
However, after an injury, it heals and lays down scar tissue which is not as strong as muscle tissue and leaves a 'weak spot'.
Make sure you rest it and really stretch the muscles. I'm sure your physio will have shown you some exercises to do before.
It's always worth a trip to your Doctor just to get their opinion.

Hey thanks for the reply but as muscles and everything goes im a bit of a novice are you saying that the muscle that was torn will never repair to proper muscle again or do i just have to do strengthening exercises to get it strong.

It can return to normal. Sports massage will help to break down any scar tissue and stretching and strengthening will help to regain full elasticity and strength.
