Thread: Possible Peroneal Tendon Injury?

    Default Possible Peroneal Tendon Injury?

Hi, I occassionaly experience tightness in my right calf muscle following a tear in December.
I ran a 10k race last weekend & have since had pain on the outside of my right foot - from below the ankle / outside heel area to the midfoot. Also noticed my right calf was tight, so I applied ICE (to both foot & calf) & did plenty of stretching.

There's only minimal pain / tenderness on pressing the area on my foot, if I touch it very firmly with my thumb it does hurt a bit. No signs of any bruising or swelling & I never felt my ankle twist or anything snap or grind!

Pain is worse on impact & gets progressively worse with walking / jogging but is bearable.
Have applied RICE & plenty of calf stretches for the past 6 days. but the pain is still there. However it can come & go.... so for perhaps the first few steps of a wak I wont notice it at all.
This hasn't responded to treatment with ibuprofen either.

Any ideas what this could be? Reading this site it seems to match the symptoms of an inury to the Peroneal Brevis or Longus tendon?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Hi
Yes it doesn sound much like a peroneal tendon injury and you are doing the right things to rest, ice and stretch.
I would give it another week or so of complete rest and if it doesn't improve you probably need professional treatment.
