    Default Shin splints or not?

I have noticed that my shins have been bothering me. Except, it's not exactly ny shins. It's the muscle on the outer side of my shins. It is on both legs and tender to the touch. I am a dancer, alon with other sports, and our dance recital is this weekend so we've been working pretty hard. Is this shin splints, or just sore muscles?

Hi, thew good news is its definately not shin spints. The pain with shin splints is to the inside of the tibia (shin bone). The pain you are experiencing is on the outside, the more muscly part of the shin.

There can be various causes of this condition including overuse but there is normally some sort of reason like weak muscles elsewhere or flat feet.

In the first instance, get some sports massage to the shins and calves and a foot analysis to check your feet.
