    Default Shin splints? - rest not an option.

    Hi all. I've recently started training again for my fitness test for the RAF. I have started to go running again on the roads. I have previously done road running and never experienced any pain. But for some reason this time, I have started getting pains on the inside of my lower legs. I have read up on the internet and it seems like its shin splints although could it be a stres fracture? I don't want to go to a GP as it may prevent me getting into the RAF and was wondering if there was any methods/treatments that could help me cope with the pain without having to rest. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Emma,

    If it is shin splints it is important that you get your feet checked out to make sure you are wearing the correct trainers.

    Other things that will help are massage to the calf and shin muscles. Also stretch these muscles out three times a day.
