    Default Tibialis Anterior Damage

    Hello

I posted a few months back, see the Original Thread - http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1553

I have since found out the problem. I have damaged/torn my Tibialis Anterior muscle. I have had 2 physio sessions and they have given me some stretching to do with the old red rubber band. I have also bought some very well padded Running Trainers. I have just purchased some Shock resistent insoles too, for general day to day life.

I was wondering if anyone else had ever done this, or if anyone had any general advice on how to deal with this injury?

The physio said it shouldnt be too long before i am fine again to return to football, but I do have a phobia now of kicking a football hard as I feel I will aggrivate it again

Any advice or comments will be appreciated

    John

    Hi John
You do definately need to make sure that it is fully healed before you return to kicking balls. The best thing to do is to continue with your Physio sessions and gradually build up the strength in the area. Then start a slow build up to returning to football. Start to jog gently then increase speed. Only add bal work when you are 100% sure you are ready. Start with a light ball rather than an actual football and start with less stressing movements such as kicking with the side of the foot. Build up more power and then go to kicking with the front of the foot.
