Hi, a year after suffering a bad ankle sprain I have had another MRI done and it shows:

*Focal bone bruising of the medial malleolus, with some cortical irregularity which suggests significant stress reaction. This is associated with high grade sprain of the deep anterior and posterior tibiotalar and superficial tibionavicular and tibiocalcaneal components of the deltoid complex.

*A corticol irregularity focus involving the medial inferior aspect of the talus is also seen, relating to avulsion of the deltoid complex.

*Mild tendinopothy and moderate tenosynovitis of the tibialis posterior.

*High signal surrounding the superior peroneal retinaculum suggests significant sprain.

*There is minor reactive effusion of the tibiotalar and subtalar joints.

*A small ganglion cyst abuts the inferior aspect of the calcaneocuboid articulation.

Does anyone know what all this means?

Is there anything that can be done?

Is any of this even significant? - Can I go back to sport?!

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. A year is far too long to have a dodgy ankle.
