Default Back of knee pain ?

At the moment I知 training for my 1st marathon which I plan to run in the back end of Feb, the last time I went for a run was 3 weeks ago which ended in me being in a lot of pain when I woke up the next morning in the back of the knee.

I decided not to run til after the new year , so yesterday i did some light football training and when I致e woke up this morning the injury has reappeared and I知 back to having a lot of pain in the back of the knee again.

I think the problem maybe something to do with my higher calf muscle but I知 not too sure as I have never had a problem in this area before. The problem is in my left leg in the back of my knee.

Does anybody have an idea on what the best way to overcome this injury so that I can be ready for the marathon come Feb ?

    Thanks

Have a read up on popliteus injuries. This is a small muscle in the back of the lower knee which is sometimes troublesome in runners. Some massage and lots of hamstring stretches should do it if this is the problem!
