    Default Basketball knee injury

    Hi Everyone,

I am a two sport athlete basketball and soccer. I recently hurt my left knee in a basketball game. I landed directly on the front of my knee well it was bent. The front of my knee is bruised but the back of my knee is where I am having the pain. When i try and straighten my leg i get a sharp pain in the back of my knee more towards the left (outside). I am still currently trying to play through it because are season just started for both basketball and soccer. I am wondering if this could be something serious that i should seek attention for.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi
I think it is something that you should get checked out. Landin directly on the knee cap can cause many different problems, but if you are having pain at the back of the knee then I would be wary of injury to the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (worst case scenario). http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/knee/posteriorcruciate.htm
