Default bump on knee for 3 years???

in 7th grade we were playing dodgeball inside during pe and i ran to the front to grab a ball and after i grabbed it i turn around really quick and started to run back and when i did i heard a pop and felt a huge amount of pain in my knee and had to limp around for the next 2-3 weeks and i still felt pain for a few months after that and i still feel pain now everytime i kneel down but the wierdest part is the bump i have on my knee that is right below the knee cap and is totally solid and hurts when i press it....it feels like bone and ive even had other people notice it when im wearing shorts....its not huge but its very odd

what couldve happend to cause this and will it cause problems when i start getting older

    Hi

I think what happened was probably linked to osgood shlatters disease. This is a condition which affects children and teenagers who are sporty. Whilst the bones are still slightly soft the extra pull and strain on the quad muscles causing pain and inflammation and often a bony lump.

Have a look at this page for more info:
