Default Clicking behind knee and pain under knee cap

    Hello,

I've been experiencing pain under my kneecap to the top right hand side of my left knee noticeably when going up and down stairs. Also can feel a click in the back of my knee when moving my knee back to the straight position - i can hyper extend my knee.

    Can you help?

    Hi,

Its difficult to really help on such limited information. Have you previously had any acute injuries to the knee or anywhere else on that leg? What sports/activities do you take part in? Are there any other symptoms apart from the pain under the knee cap and clicking at the back of the knee?

It sounds most likely to be patellofemoral pain syndrome. This can be caused by a combination of other problems. Here is the link to the page so you can get some more information:

    Hi Heidi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week where i run on the treadmill - xtrain, bikes. I also do a class called bodypump which is weightlifting and doing lunges, squats. Only seem to get the pain when bending knee for walking up/down stairs.
