    Default Football injury

Soo during a match i went to take a shot and i swung my leg too hard. My knee felt as if it just went and i had to be subbed off as i couldnt walk on it atall.

When i went to the hospital they told me that i had torn my ligaments (didnt tell me what one or anything) and that i would be out for 2-6 weeks and reccomended rest, a knee support, ibuprofene and something to do with heat like a hot water bottle or something.

6 weeks have past i can walk on my leg fine i even played football this week just at training to see if i have recovered but when i was playing it didnt feel right as i couldnt run as fast as i could normally because it felt weird when i did and i was scared to swing for the ball to either shoot or clear the ball.

I dont understand if i did tear my ligament then why does it hurt on the right side of my knee and the left ?
what else have i injured the only pains i get are when i pivot with my foot planted in the ground, when i fully straighten my leg (minor pain) and when i fully bend my leg (minor pain).

Does anyone think i should go for an x-ray or something ? please get back to me soon

an x-ray is probably not necessary as it would only show up bony injury, which this is very unlikely to be given the way the injury occurred.

It may well be ligament damage. In the knee there are four main ligaments which are commonly injured. There is one on the inside of the knee (medial ligament), one on the outside (lateral ligament), and two deep within the joint - the ACL and PCL.
Generally with the medial and lateral ligaments the pain is centrered around that ligament. With the ACL and PCL, because they are deeper in the joint they more commonly radiate pain all around the knee.

There may have been some damage to one of these ligaments, and so I would recommend you visit a professional who can assess this and guide you on what to do next.
As an alternative, it could also be cartilage damage. This is why it is important you get it checked out. It is very difficult to really give any advice on what an injury could be.
