... quick synopsis ...
I have had several operations on my left knee, the most recent 5 weeks ago.
I have very little meniscus cartilage left, and no articular cartilage on the head of my Tibia, resulting in reduced inter joint gap on the left 'outer half' of my knee.
Last week long leg X-rays show the 'vertical plumb line' from hip through knee to ankle confirms my knee is now off centre; and has confirmed that this loss of several mm of cartilage, has resulted in knee leaning inwards.
Either as a result of the misalignmnet the wear was caused, or the misalignment is now a result of the wear.
Next year my surgeon will look at cutting through the thigh bone and realigning it(sounds drastic bu the assure me is easy ) and/or placing an inter joint disc (plastic cup) to force a gap back into knee joint space.
As interim y surgeon has suggested obtaining a heel insert that would go under the inner half of left heel, to help force my knee back out and help open up the gap on the outer part of my knee joint - which will help reduce bone-on-bone damage.
Do you know of anybody who manufactures such an item ?
