    Default Intramedullary Nail/Screws

Hi Guys/Ladies..I am 18 years of age, i fractured both my tibia and fibula in my right leg during a football match on 24th January 2010 and underwent surgery to reduce the fractures. Thankfully both bones have now healed and dont cause me too much trouble(Other than aches and pains here and there) however the screw heads at the top of the tibia(at the knee) are almost piercing the skin and cause a lot of discomfort around this area, meaning i cannot kneel down. i am wanting to go back to playing football once i am able to do so again and i was hoping if any of you guys could help me out/recommend and knee supports i could wear(Preferably with padding). Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
Have you visited your Doctor or Consultant about this? I think it is something you should speak to them about? I take it there are no plans to remove the screws?
As for a padded knee support, this may be an option in the short term to make it more comfortable.

Those with padding are near the bottom of the grid.

My Consulant has discharged me, with the option of a further appointment whenever i feel the need to see him, and basically said i can start living a normal life whenever im able to run again. I did ask him about knee supports, and he suggested i do wear them when playing football, however, he didnt recommend a specific type. The screws and pin will remain in my leg for at least 1 year. Would you recommend having them removed completely? Thanks.
