Red face Knee Arthroscopy for torn cartilage

I had keyhole sugery in November for a torn cartilage. I had successfully been doing specific strengthening exercises on the advise of my physio until two weeks ago. I went for an hours skiing on the local indoor slope and have had continued pain and swelling in the same area of the original tear since then. I am due to go skiing on Saturday and am wondering if I should be wearing a brace, or will a strong support bandage do. I am now very nervous of skiing and am worried that I am not going to be able to cope with it. Any help/advise would be appreciated

    Hi
It is unlikely that an elasticated bandage would be particularly effective. All it will really do is provide compression.
Usually for skiing and cartilage injuries I would recommend a hinged support as this will help to reduce the twisting and sideways movements at the knee joint which tend to injure the cartilage.
There are lots of hinged supports available at www.return2fitness.co.uk. The McDavid 429 is probably our most popular one for skiing and cartilage problems.
