I suffered from a bad knee injury 2 years ago from simply walking down the stairs(I didn't fall), which resulted in the quadriceps ligament tearing resulting in major damage to the ligaments around my knee and dislocating my patella as there was nothing there to keep it in place. I had black brusing for 7 weeks and an immobilised knee for 5 weeks then took another 5 weeks to lengthen and stretch the muscles in and around the knee so it could function properly.

I spent 12 weeks under my own physio for rehab and strengthening as the NHS specialist and the surgeons said it was just nothing to worry about.

After much strain in getting them to look at the knee property an MRI scan revelaed that the MCL, LCL, ACL and PCL were are perfect and in fantastic shape so I had not ruptured anything. The physio at the hospital I go to advised it was a Iliotibial band syndrome problem and gave me exercises to do but no follow-up physio from the NHS, much to the anger of me and costing me around £1200 for my own physio to help me.

They still have no clue and I'm away up to see the same specialist today as I had a relapse of the same injury but not to the extent it was last time. It's taken 4 weeks to recover this time.

My physio thinks, as well as I do as I can feel it sometimes, that there is a particle floating around the knee and it sometimes blocks itself in the intercondylar grove resulting in a locking of my knee. I also look at if I maybe bashed it at work and if it could have been a medial meniscus tear but I'm really lost with this.

I feel my only option now is an anthroscopy to see if there is infact anything in there.

The NHS have really goofed me off and I'm not happy as it is causing a detrimental effect on my work, life and family.

If anyone has any ideas or advice it would be fantastic.
