    Default knee pain

I am an 8th grader who plays basketball, volleyball, and I dance. I have noticed that when I run it hurts in the front of my knee, like below my kneecap. It haurts worst when I run, but I notice it a lot when I'm going up and down stair and if I stand for a long time. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be and what I can do to make it stop?

jumpers knee (patella tendonitis), google it

stop all exercise for the time being until it goes away, and take anti-inflamatory drugs

its casued by micro damage to your patella tendon that your body can't keep up the repairs to, pain = stop.

if its not too bad, you might get away with a few weeks of inactivity.. other wise it could be a few months!

    good luck

Is that my only option? To stop activity? Because volleyball is just starting, dance doesn't end until May, and all summer I'll be playing basketball. I would rather not have to put all those things on hold. Is there anything else I can do?

    Definately sounds like jumpers knee.

    Have a look at http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/knee/indexjumpersknee.html
Theres loads of advice on there about what you can do for treatment other than just rest (although that is important too!)

    Hope this helps
