knee pain on outside?

I ve got a very sore pain on the outside of my left knee but it s quite away from my knee cap but right on a bone and hurts all way down side of shin.

Its painfull to touch too, any ideas on what it could be?

Possibly the peroneal muscle attachment to the Fibula head?
Peroneal problems are common in people who overpronate or supinate at the foot when running/walking.
Tight calf muscles may also be a factor.
You may just need to change your footwear or get some insoles. Some massage may also help.
