    Default Knee pain while walking

My doctor suggests a very likely meniscus tear. Lately it has started to hurt a lot worse though while walking and I discovered that my knee doesn't hurt as much when I walk with it bent. Is this normal of a meniscus tear? And also, do you know anything that would take away the pain, motrin doesn't work at all.

Bending usually hurts cartilage injuries more as it compresses the cartilage.
Does walking up or down hills or stairs affect you?
Does it click, lock or give way on you?
    How did it happen?

Since it hurts pretty much all the time when I am walking, yes, it does hurt when I use stairs but this from the lasting pain. Other than that, it really doesn't hurt going down hill. My knee actually does pop sometimes when I am walking or I can pop it on my own sitting down and shortly after there will be a pain that comes on. As for how I hurt it, I truthfully have no idea. In March it starting hurting after a lot of exercising so I might have twisted it a way and didn't realize it. Since then, I am in marching band currently and so twisting hurts it and marching backwards causes pain since my legs are completely straight, this usually causes an aching pain which I have almost all the time or it will be a very sharp pain while I am walking.

Ok, it may be a cartilage injury, either to the meniscus or to the articular cartilage lining the bones.
If your medication isn't working you should return to your Doctor for a different prescription.
