About 5 years ago I was laying a floor down in my flat.Having problems laying this down when I got it right I was so pleased I sat back to admire my work. Then there was a loud cracking snapping sensation from inside of my knee. Having played football and had a few injuries over the years I had never heard anything like it before. I really thought I had snapped my leg. I sat there not knowing whether to move or not as I was unsure of what had happened. I carried on working as a chef but the knee kept on locking up and making awful loud cracking sounds as it unlocked. After about 18 months when I could not stand up anymore I went to the doctors and was reffered to a surgeon at the hospital. I had an arthroscopy during which the meniscus was trimmed up. Come the time to see the surgeon for my follow up consoltation The knee had not improved much and was still giving me as much of a problem as it had before. I was told that there was nothing else hey could do and was sent on my way. Six months later(approx.) I found my self in the same state as I was in before the op. The knee giving way, loud cracking sounds coming from the knee, pain when walking ,sitting and sleeping . I then had another arthroscopy and they then trimmed up the rear meniscus. 3-4 months later I saw the surgeon for follow up appointment as I knew this also had not cleared up the problem as Iwas still in pain. Again I was told there was nothing else they can do. When I mentioned that I was still in pain to my doctor the last time I saw her Iwas told to go away and get on with it. I am now unable to walk, stand, sit, sleep, drive, have a bath, cook, clean my teeth(I can if I stand on one leg)or most other things that people take for granted. My knee still makes loud cracking snapping sounds after which I know is going to be really painful can be 6 or more times a day, fails (as in giving out )under me which makes stairs out of the question ,it's really hard to get any decent sleep as you can never get comfortable. My other leg has now gone dead from the hip to the knee(front of the quad) and have trouble with my back. Don't know who to turn to now as I have lost faith in most doctors
