    Default Medial knee injury?

Hi, I injured my knee last night playing football and was looking for some advise to start me off. Where I live I know it will be a week or more untill I am able to see a physio (without paying!!) I was in a 50/50 challenge for the ball with the guy sliding in at speed with his foot up and me coming the opposite direction with foot sideways I think, not sure exactly of the clash but I came away with my knee feeling loose initially and then pain along the inside when I turned inwards. I played for another 45 mins and was sprinting in straight lines with no problem but when I turned or passed the ball with a side footed pass I felt pain.

About 2 minutes prior to the incident I recieved a knee from an apponent to the centre of my quad on the same leg which resulted in a massive dead leg (from which I was still limping when the knee thing happened). I believe the 2 to be linked.

I went through the full range of stretching post game and then rice treated the knee and quad when I got home. This morning I woke up in a good deal of pain when my knee turned inward, and when walking at normal speed, extending fully, and bending fully. I've had to walk slower with less movement in that knee as it still feels 'loose' slightly if I go too fast, however ibuprofen has definately helped with movement throughout the day. All the pain is located on the medial ligament area and small fingertip sized bruise has appeared there. The dead leg also hurts !!

An advise on treatment would be great, thankyou

Does sound like it might be an MCL injury. These initially require simple RICE treatment as you have been doing. Then some gentle stretching to regain full pain free movement.
Strengthening of the quads and hamstring muscles will help to stabilise the knee joint.
