Default need opinion about knee injury, please help

    hello,
please I want an opinion from you. I have had
an accident playing soccer and from the magnetic resonance it comes out that I have horizontal cut (or tear I don't know the exact word) of the second grade of 1/3 of the lateral meniscus. also, partial rupture of the anterior crucial ligament with minimal intra articular versament. they told me there is no other way than operating the knee. do I not have other choices than operation, like physiotherapy for example??

    thanks.

You can try physio for it but if you are an active person the only way to get full use of your knee back is by operation to remove the torn section of meniscus.

If you just go for physio you can strengthen your knee which will help support the injury but you will in the best case scenario suffer from occasional locking or giving way and feelings of instability.

I would recommend the surgery. It should be done by keyhole (arthroscopy) now which considerably reduces recovery time.

Surgery for ACL injuries is optional if you never plan on playing soccer, tennis, basketball, skiing, or any other sport that involves lateral/cutting movements. Otherwise your leg will keep giving out, you'll damage more and more of the internal structures, and you'll end up getting surgery down the line for a knee that's worse off than if you just did it now.

I just had my ACL surgery on Wednesday and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Day2 and morning 3 were still rough, but I drove yesterday, don't use the crutches, have 0-95 degrees range of motion on my CPM machine, and can walk up and down the stairs. I'm stiff and swollen but the incisions are the only thing that really bothers me. Good luck in your decision.
