    Default Osgood-Schlatter in adults???

    Hello

After finding a lumpy bone just under my knee, I went to see my doctor who hAs advised that he's 99% certain that I have Osgood-Schlatter's...common in teenage boys? (I'm a woman in my mid-30s??????)

Does anybody know of this and what treatment is common in adults? Most websites I looked at refer to the problem disappearing when the patient stops growing....

Has the bony lump only just appeared or has it been there for some time but is now causing pain? What exercise do you do? Does it involve a high level of quadricep work?

Yes Osgood Schlatters is most common in adolescents, girls as well as boys. It can sometimes persist into adulthood.

Treatment can consist of rest, ice and anti-inflammatories. Stretching and massage to the quad muscles will also help.

Look at the activities you are involved in and try to modify them to put less strain on the patella tendon too.

    Hi

The bony lump showed up about 6 months ago but it only started to be painful about 6 weeks ago.

I used to have painful knees in my teens and was quite sporty, mainly running which is what I currently do, but my dr at the time put it down to growing spurts.

Having x-ray tomorrow to see the extent of it and to check for any calcification on the tendon.

Thanks for all the information. Websites tend to be a bit on the vague side when it comes to adults.
