Hi,
If you don't want to invest in a patella knee strap (which do tend to be pretty helpful in this condition) there are some taping techniques which do the same thing. You can view these techniques here:

See if one of these helps you with your pain, and if so play it by ear. Perhaps go for a walk first, and then if that's ok try a light jog. Remember though, that you do still need to give the tendon time to heal! Don't expect it to get better overnight!
Other than that, I would see what the physio has to offer in terms of advice and treatment.
