Question Plantar fascitis AND runner's knee on the same side?

Since runner's knee is typically due to overpronation and plantar fascitis is due to oversupination - how did I get both on one side? Can they be related? I run in Mizuno Wave Inspires which are a stability shoe. I had inside shin splints for over a year and they went away with the Inspires. But I'm confused about the knee pain and plantar fascitis.

from my running store trips, I know I overpronate a little but have a neutral gait - knees, achilles, hips are aligned even with my low arch and mild overpronation. The pain is mild and I can still run. The knee aches after and I feel it going down stairs. The arch is stiff in the morning and bites me a little for the first mile or two but is pain free for the rest of the run and mostly throughout the day unless I've sat for a long time.

    Hi

Plantar fasciitis can occur in both overpronating and oversupinating feet. So it is very possible to have both conditions in the same leg.

I would look closely at why this has happened. Are you prone to tight muscles? Particularly calf, hamstring and the IT band itself? If so, this should be your main priority, to stretch this lot out and get a couple of massages to help.

Rest off running for a couple of weeks. I know this isn't ideal but it is the only was you can expect your foot and knee to heal. You can cross train like cycling to keep your fitness up.

Also consider weaknesses in the hip abductors and core muscles particularly. These are both commonly overlooked areas when it comes to niggling running injuries.
