    Default quadriceps = sore knee???

I was diagnosed recently with an inflammed tendon at the top of my knee (the one that attaches my patella to my quads i think), and advised to take 2 weeks complete rest and then ease myself back into training (i am a footballer and a ballroom dancer).
i did this, and after one gentle dance lesson (20 minutes of easy stuff) my knee seemed ten times worse (slight exageration) than when i originally went to the doctors, and i am also having pain down the outside of my knee as well.
could this be i just went back to training to quickly, or something more serious that wasn;t diagnosed at my first doctors appointment?

It may well be this condition, it is not unusual. If you only saw your Dr I would highly recommend a physio, sports therapist or sports rehabilitator. They will be able to fully assess your problem to make sure this is what it is and also find out what has caused it. This must be corrected to prevent it returning and help it heal.

Rest will be part of the treatment, however there is more to it than that. Including massage, stretching, ultrasound possibly and strengthening exercises. As well as any correction of poor biomechanics or weaknesses in other areas which may place more strain on this part of the muscle.

    I hope this helps,

    Good luck!
