Default sharp knee pain on inside of knee

Started to get a slight sharp pain on the inside of my knee in the last 5 mins of my last run two nights ago, went out for a run today and pulled up after a minute with a very sharp pain in same place. Devastated! I've been reading some worrying things on the net that inner knee pain is worse than outer knee pain and could spell a real big problem. It dosen't hurt when not moving just when i put pressure on it like walking up stairs.
I havent twisted it but have been doing a few more hill runs, would really appriciate any help!
Am i going to be out of training for ages? Will it keep reoccuring? And is it MCL?

    Hi
Inner knee pain can have a number of causes. It can be an MCL strain as you say. It can also be pes anserine inflammation or bursitis.
The issue really is finding out what is causing the problem which is often biomechanical or training related. A sudden increase in training or hills etc can contribute.
Other things to think about are flexibility, muscle imbalances, running shoes...all the usual.
The best thing to do is to visit a sports injury therapist who can assess you, not only to see what the injury is but to work out what may be causing it and then treat it accordingly.
