    Unhappy Skiing with Torn ACL

    Hi
I tore my ACL 2 years ago. I've not had reconstruction and have got back to full fitness. I'd like to go skiing again this winter and have purchased a Edge Knee Brace. Are there any significant issues or risks posed by skiing with a torn ACL and a brace?
    Thx & Rgds - Phil

    Default

skiing puts ALOT of stress on the knee joines, if you are confident that you are fully recovered i can see no problems with this exercise..

however if you are at all concerned i would seriously advise you buy a good quality ski specific knee brace, knees are slow, and expensive to fix. Don't take the chance

    Default knee brace

I was told by our Ortho. Surgeon that a knee brace is, in a way, just something to help you be more confident in your sport, the value is a placebo- like effect. At least for the type of injury recieved in football. I don't know about skiing though, but it seems like a good way to tear it completely.
