Question Trying to Diagnose my own Knee problem

About 13 years ago I was in a bad car accident...I was a passenger sitting behind the drivers seat...We were T-BONED on my side of the car...The drivers Seat broke and my knee was stuck behind it and the fire dept had to break the drivers seat all the way to get me out....

I didnt have health insurance at the time, but I was in the hospital for 8 days for my internal and other injuries...My knee was swollen the size of a watermelon for a good two months...

The swelling went down, but It was never the same after that...Now gradually the pain and all keeps getting worse. I walk with a limp now...

When I put my fingers on the front of my knee and move my leg from knee down back and forth I can feel a grinding and popping...

I know I need to go get it looked at, its painful and it throbs and throbs at night...
What do you think the problem is ?
Anyone else have something like this ?
What can I expect from Doctor?

    Hi

Yes you definately need to get it looked at. It is impossible to say from such an injury what damage there could have been.

If you go to a Doctor, I would expect a referral for an x-ray or even better an MRI. After this it would depend on the results.

    Good luck
