    Default Twisted Knee Pain

Okay Guys I really can use some help and I will be as specific as possible. I was in ground fighting the other day and I had my knee twisted much farther than natural. I feel like i heard a small pop but felt no real pain afterwards. But the next day it was pretty painful, but no swelling at all. I am currently in the police academy but do not have health insurance so I cannot get an MRI anytime soon. I can run virtually pain free, and the knee does not feel unstable. The only pain comes when flexion happens over 90 degrees. Again I can walk virtually pain free and the pain seems to be coming from the lower outer portion of the knee. Specifically, a small bit over an inch below the outer portion of my right knee. Again, no swelling or anything like that. Everything I have been researching is pointing to LCL, any more suggestions? Do you guys thinks its torn if I can still run and it does not feel unstable? I can jump, run, and straighten with virtually no pain at all. Any suggestions guys, and similar injuries that have been diagnosed? I have been icing compressing and elevating. But I will not get rest until after I finish my PT test, I only have three weeks left of the academy, and after that I can rest all that I can! Thanks guys, I could really use your help

    Hi
An injury to the LCL is possible.
They can vary in severity from just stretching of the fibres, to a complete rupture. If you can run ok and it isn't unstable it is unlikely ruptured. I would suggest it is a grade 1 or 2- tear.

Other options include a meniscus tear: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/knee/ilateralmeniscus.html
