    Default unexplained new problem

I have a long history of knee problems. I have had 2 acl's on the same knee, the last being 9 months ago and previous to that 2 arthroscopy's and an open mosaicplasty consisting of 12 plugs.

    My question is this:

I have random unexplained sharp pains that seem to come from the medial joint line, do not get worse with exercise. These seem to happen every day. My physio who i do not see now formally has had a good feel and cannot come up with any answers. He originally thought that it might be adhesions but now seems to think that it could be something to do with over stretching the capsule. But i do not understand what this means or if that is the case what i should be doing about it to stop these bouts of pain. Afterwards i feel as though i have to limp for a while it soon wears off.

Could someone please explain any of this?

It is not like an arthiritic pain, i had that prior to mosaicplasty, and it is not fromt he graft area.

    Hi
I think that after so much surgery it is pretty common to suffer from such pains in the joint. It is difficult to pin-point exactly what is causing this kind of pain as it could be coming from almost any structure in the knee.
All you can really do is to make sure that the knee is in as good a contion as possible. By this I mean ensuring that it is strong and flexible and that you have good positional awareness (proprioception) in the limb.
Other options if this doesn't work include using a knee support.

    Hi Soska

Hope you don't mind me jumping into this thread but I'd be interested to hear if you get to the bottom of your pain. It sounds pretty much like the intermittent problem I'm getting along the medial joint line. I've had a possible MCL sprain and/or cartilage problems but I get a burning, stabbing pain along the joint line and it seems to come and go when it pleases and its rather painful! I've seen an orthopedic consultant and a physio and neither of them were sure what could be causing it.

I will happily share with you an answer should i get one. I next see the surgeon in aug and am hoping that if i havent had an answer by then then he may be able to give one. It does sound very similar to what you are experiencing.
